Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Huỳnh Tấn Dũng kicked off to start the match. In the 4th minute, Đặng Chung made a precise shot to the right of Lý Huynh Duc. Vinh Long's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Vinh Long's zone, Nguyễn Dung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lý Huynh Duc came out of the goal and Nguyễn Dung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Vinh Long getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Nguyễn Hieu hit a great ball. With a little luck, Vinh Long's Lý Huynh Duc got control of the ball when Đặng Chung tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Minh-ha in the 26th minute of play forced Dien Bien Phu's goalkeeper Lê Tran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lý Huynh Duc saved Vinh Long from getting behind. 37 minutes into the match, Huỳnh Tấn Dũng dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lý Huynh Duc, 2-0. Phạm Nguyet kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Trần Minh-ha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Tran having to interfere. Phan Binh succeeded in the game's 46th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1.

In the 53rd minute, Đặng Chung got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Huỳnh Tấn Dũng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phan Binh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lê Tran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Lý Huynh Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd match minute, Vinh Long was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hieu to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute, Trần Minh-ha made a precise shot to the right of Lê Tran. Dien Bien Phu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 72nd minute Đặng Chung shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lý Huynh Duc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lê Tran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phan Binh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Đặng Chung recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Huỳnh Tấn Dũng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Nga kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Lê Tran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trần Minh-ha in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Đặng Chung managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dien Bien Phu's supporters rose to their feet, but Đặng Chung was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lý Huynh Duc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
