Phạm Ho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dương Loc having to make a save. Lê Hieu Ngan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Phong, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 10th match minute, Cao Lanh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Phong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lê Hieu Ngan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Phong in the 15th minute of play. Lê Hieu Ngan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nguyễn Phong went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Trần Hong fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cao Lanh's protests and gave Trần Hong a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ca Mau booed when Cao Lanh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Hong didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 played minutes, Ca Mau's Huỳnh Nguyet shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lê Hieu Ngan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ca Mau reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Cong Vinh in the 28th minute of play forced Cao Lanh's goalkeeper Lê Hieu Ngan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ca Mau's Nguyễn Phong in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cao Lanh's goalie prevented a goal. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Cao Lanh:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ca Mau:s goal. In the 45th minute Trần Cong Vinh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Hieu Ngan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 48 minutes, Phạm Ho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cao Lanh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phạm Ho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phạm Ho to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Nguyễn Phong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Hieu Ngan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ca Mau's Nguyễn Phong was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 68th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Nguyễn Phong's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lê Hieu Ngan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. During the 77th minute of the match Trần Hong completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Trần Hong a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 78th minute, Trần Hong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lê Duc's late challenge caught a Cao Lanh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Duc helped the player get up and apologised. Lê Duc kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After having played for 84 minutes, Lâm Huynh Duc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cao Lanh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lâm Huynh Duc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lâm Huynh Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dương Loc having to interfere. If Lâm Huynh Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Phong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cao Lanh's goalkeeper Lê Hieu Ngan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dương Nghiêm-Minh hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Cao Lanh's Đặng Minh-ha tried to score from far away in the 96th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The Ca Mau players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
