Nguyễn Viet helped the player get up and apologised. Hoàng Nhật Minh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Phạm Lam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Võ Tấn Dũng kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Lien to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Quốc Vương's zone, Lê Nam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phạm Lam came out of the goal and Lê Nam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Phạm Lam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hoàng Nhật Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Quốc Vương's zone, Hoàng Nhật Minh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phạm Lam came out of the goal and Hoàng Nhật Minh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 played minutes Quốc Vương got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Phuoc. Lê Nam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Trần Pham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but La Thanh made a huge save. 80 minutes into the match, Quốc Vương's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Nhật Minh came free, but Phạm Lam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Nguyễn Viet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 84 minutes of play, Son La's Hoàng Nhật Minh made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Phạm Lam was left in no man's land by his defense there! Son La's Lê Nam got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Phạm Lam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hoàng Nhật Minh in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Son La players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
