Phan Xuan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. RPT AK's Phạm Diem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Tho in the 23rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trần Minh Phượng in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hoàng Thi Ngoc saved Kontum from getting behind. With a little luck, RPT AK's Phạm Diem got control of the ball when Tôn Tấn Dũng tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kontum's Nguyễn Khoi got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute of the match Võ Hoang sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phạm Diem skillfully saved the ball. In the 41st minute, Kontum's Trần Tho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Phạm Diem. Phạm Diem yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Phan Xuan took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Phạm Diem to make any attempt to save it.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Trần Minh Phượng made a kick off. RPT AK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Trần Tho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. 91 minutes into the match, RPT AK's goal looked a bit too open when Phan Xuan came free, but Phạm Diem reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Trần Tho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Phạm Diem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Tho in the 96th minute of play forced RPT AK's goalkeeper Phạm Diem to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that Kontum were the better team. Kontum's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
