Kontum's Trần Tho got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 6 minutes into the game, Kontum's Tôn Tấn Dũng nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trần Liem made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 12 minutes into the match, Trần Tho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Chau Doc's Trần Liem. Trần Liem was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Trần Tho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Liem having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Tôn Tấn Dũng's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Trần Liem was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Hoàng Thi Ngoc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Lam, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Trần Tho to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Huynh Duc in the 55th minute of play forced Kontum's goalkeeper Hoàng Thi Ngoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Trần Hoang came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Chau Doc fans jumped to their feet. Trần Liem made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tôn Tấn Dũng in the 69th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Khoi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trần Liem. Chau Doc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nguyễn Khoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Lê Dinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nguyễn Khoi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Trần Liem made a huge save. In the 81st minute Phan Xuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trần Liem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chau Doc's Nguyễn Lam got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 88 minutes into the game, Chau Doc's Lê Dinh nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hoàng Thi Ngoc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. If Trần Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phan Xuan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Trần Liem made a huge save. After 96 played minutes Chau Doc got a freekick which was hit by Trần Hoang. The Chau Doc supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Kontum's performance. The match ended with a win for Kontum.
