Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Lê Nam made the kick off and thus started the match. Trần Liem made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Hoàng Nhật Minh sent off a good shot on target. La Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Dinh in the 4th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Chau Doc's Nguyễn Lam sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that La Thanh narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Hoàng Nhật Minh kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trần Liem. That made the score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. Trần Liem made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Nam in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of Son La booed when Chau Doc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Huynh Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Lê Nam came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Son La fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lê Nam couldn't finish the play. 23 minutes into the match, Hoàng Nhật Minh dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Trần Liem, 2-0. With a little luck, Chau Doc's Trần Liem got control of the ball when Hoàng Nhật Minh tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th match minute, Son La was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Võ Tấn Dũng to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Lam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. La Thanh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Huynh Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Võ Tấn Dũng charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Võ Tấn Dũng the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 38 played minutes Son La got a freekick which was hit by Võ Tấn Dũng. La Thanh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Dinh in the 39th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Son La's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Dinh came free, but La Thanh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Triệu Nga fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Son La's protests and gave Triệu Nga a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Son La getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Triệu Nga hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Lam to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Nguyễn Lam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chau Doc's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Lam was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. La Thanh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lê Dinh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard, long distance shot from Nguyễn Huynh Duc flew over the goal. After having played for 59 minutes, Lê Dinh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chau Doc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Dinh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. La Thanh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lê Dinh in the 62nd minute. After 64 played minutes Chau Doc got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Lam. If Hoàng Nhật Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the match, Chau Doc's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Nam came free, but Trần Liem reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Son La's goalkeeper La Thanh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nguyễn Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without La Thanh having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Chau Doc's Lê Dinh sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that La Thanh narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Chau Doc's Trần Hoang in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Son La's goalie prevented a goal. In the 81st minute Nguyễn Lam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but La Thanh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Son La's zone, Lê Dinh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. La Thanh came out of the goal and Lê Dinh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 85 minutes into the game, Hoàng Nhật Minh cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Trần Liem was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 88 minutes into the match, Trần Nhật Minh had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trần Liem. Chau Doc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Trần Nhật Minh was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Trần Liem came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Son La's Lê Nam. But to his dismay, Lê Nam quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Many of Chau Doc's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Chau Doc may have spent more time on the ball, but Son La were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
