He walked away shaking his head. Phan Dung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Khoi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hoàng Phuc having to make a save. Hoàng Phuc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Khoi in the 26th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Saigon United's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Khoi came free, but Đặng Quang reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Binh hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Đặng Nguyet hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After 40 minutes of play, Saigon United's Lý Bien made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hoàng Phuc was left in no man's land by his defense there! Phan Dung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Quang having to interfere. Phan Dung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Đặng Quang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Khoi made a kick off. Đặng Quang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Khoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Phan Dung could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Đặng Quang made a huge save. Phan Dung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Quang having to interfere. Hoàng Phuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Khoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. But to his dismay, Lý Bien quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 86th minute, Phan Dung hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Saigon United's Lý Bien got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 90th minute of play forced Dien Bien's goalkeeper Hoàng Phuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 92nd minute of play forced Saigon United's goalkeeper Đặng Quang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Saigon United's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
