Phan Huynh Duc started the match with the kick off. 11 minutes into the match, Đặng Hong dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Trần Hieu Ngan, 2-0. With a little luck, Hà Nội's Trần Hieu Ngan got control of the ball when Đặng Hong tried to sneak it across the goal line. Trần Chuong might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Hung. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Trần Chuong ran back to his position shaking his head. Phan Huynh Duc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Trần Hieu Ngan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Phan Huynh Duc took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Trần Hieu Ngan to make any attempt to save it. In the 33rdth minute of the game Phan Huynh Duc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hà Nội's Trần Hieu Ngan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, An Giang's Trần Hieu Ngan threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Phan Huynh Duc, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 37thth minute of the game Đặng Hong who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hà Nội's Trần Hieu Ngan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Hà Nội's goal looked a bit too open when Phan Huynh Duc came free, but Trần Hieu Ngan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Đặng Hong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Hieu Ngan having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Đặng Hong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hoàng Thanh to make the kick off. Phan Huynh Duc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 63 minutes, Hoàng Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hà Nội's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hoàng Thanh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Hung came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Hà Nội's Trần Chuong. But to his dismay, Trần Chuong quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Hà Nội's Trần Hieu Ngan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Huynh Duc in the 70th minute of play. Đinh Tuan charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Đinh Tuan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Đinh Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, An Giang's Đặng Hong sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trần Hieu Ngan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nguyễn Phong blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trần Hieu Ngan having to make a save. Lê Tu hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Đặng Hong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Trần Hieu Ngan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Chuong got free with Nguyễn Hung in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When An Giang's Phan Huynh Duc, in the 93rd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for An Giang. Đặng Hong took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Trần Hieu Ngan. Trần Hieu Ngan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. An Giang's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
