The supporters of Long Xuyen booed when Can Tho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Nghiêm-Minh didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Long Xuyen's Nguyễn Phong got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 8th minute, Lê Minh-ha made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Hoa. Lê Minh-ha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Triệu Thai charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Triệu Thai the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Can Tho's Triệu Thai got a free kick in the 17th minute. Nguyễn Hoa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Phong's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. The supporters of Can Tho booed when Long Xuyen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Đỗ Thuyet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Long Xuyen's Nguyễn Nguyet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Long Xuyen from getting a goal against them. Long Xuyen's defense didn't have a chance, in the 27th minute, when Nguyễn Van Quyen scored to the left of an out of position Nguyễn Nguyet, making the score, 1-1. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Nguyễn Nguyet successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Nguyễn Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Nguyet having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Nguyễn Van Quyen fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Võ Tu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nguyễn Nguyet having to make a save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Phong made a kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Long Xuyen's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Van Quyen came free, but Nguyễn Nguyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Hoàng Mai fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Long Xuyen's protests and gave Hoàng Mai a yellow card for diving instead. Hoàng Mai hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Nguyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Van Quyen in the 57th minute of play. Nguyễn Hoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Phong in the 58th minute of play. After having played for 61 minutes, Võ Tu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Can Tho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Võ Tu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 62 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Duong. Lê Minh-ha took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Hoa. Nguyễn Hoa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Võ Tu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 74 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Bùi Nhật Minh. Đỗ Thuyet took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nguyễn Hoa. Can Tho's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 77th match minute, Can Tho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Duong to maneuver through the defense. When Lê Minh-ha came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Long Xuyen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lê Minh-ha couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Van Quyen in the 92nd minute of play forced Long Xuyen's goalkeeper Nguyễn Nguyet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When %teams%'s Nguyễn Phong was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 2-3 just inside the left pole, 96 minutes into the game. Nguyễn Hoa was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Long Xuyen's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
