In the 5th minute Bùi Van Quyen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Đỗ Hoang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mai Duc in the 8th minute of play forced Dong Xoai's goalkeeper Đỗ Hoang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lê Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Đỗ Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Manchester United's Bùi Van Quyen in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Lê Tho charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lê Tho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Manchester United booed when Dong Xoai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lê Tho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Đỗ Hoang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Tuan, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Bùi Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đỗ Hoang having to interfere. Dong Xoai's Đỗ Hoang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Tuan in the 35th minute of play. Lê Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Đỗ Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bùi Van Quyen in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Đỗ Hoang saved Dong Xoai from getting behind. With a little luck, Manchester United's Vũ Dung got control of the ball when Nguyễn Duong tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lê Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Đỗ Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Bùi Van Quyen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bùi Van Quyen struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Đỗ Hoang didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Bùi Van Quyen took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Đỗ Hoang to make any attempt to save it. Mai Duc kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. With a little luck, Dong Xoai's Đỗ Hoang got control of the ball when Lê Tuan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lê Tuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đỗ Hoang having to interfere. Lê Tuan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Đỗ Hoang having to make a save. If Lê Tuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lê Tuan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86th minute Bùi Van Quyen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Đỗ Hoang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 93 minutes, Lê Tuan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Tuan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manchester United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
