An unexpected shot in the 5th minute by Lý Khoi got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Lý Khoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Đoàn Quang Thanh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lê Minh-ha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nguyễn Diem went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Huỳnh Hung hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the match, Ha Dong's goalkeeper Đặng Xuan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Đoàn Quang Thanh. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lý Khoi in the 22nd minute of play forced Ha Dong's goalkeeper Đặng Xuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Trần Lien fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ha Dong's protests and gave Trần Lien a yellow card for diving instead. Trần Lien kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. A collision led to Ho Chi Minh City getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Chung Nguyet hit a great ball. Lê Minh-ha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Diem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ha Dong's zone, Lý Khoi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Đặng Xuan came out of the goal and Lý Khoi tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 36th minute of the match Phan Bay sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Đặng Xuan skillfully saved the ball. Lê Minh-ha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Diem, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 48th minute of the match Trần Duc shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Đặng Xuan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The Ho Chi Minh City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ha Dong were winning 0-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lý Khoi was the one to do the kick off. In the 75th match minute, Ha Dong was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Chi to maneuver through the defense. 78 minutes into the match, Lý Khoi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Đặng Xuan. Ha Dong's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lý Khoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. A very good chance for a goal. The Ha Dong players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
