Đào Anh Hung made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Than in the 13th minute of play. Lê Nhật Minh was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Liễu Tho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Liễu Tho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. With a little luck, Khanh Hoa's Lê Nhật Minh got control of the ball when Nguyễn Loc tried to sneak it across the goal line. Khanh Hoa's Lê Nhật Minh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liễu Tho in the 37th minute of play. Khanh Hoa's Nguyễn Tuyet got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Tuyet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Đào Anh Hung having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Da Lat's zone, Nguyễn Tuyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Đào Anh Hung came out of the goal and Nguyễn Tuyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a rather tough play, Khanh Hoa's Nguyễn Than got a free kick in the 55th minute. If Nguyễn Loc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lê Nhật Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liễu Tho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Khanh Hoa's Lê Thanh got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Da Lat's goalkeeper Đào Anh Hung, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, Da Lat could leave the field as winners, despite Khanh Hoa having more of the ball for most of the match.
