Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Phú Thọ FC's Nguyễn Tuan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Nguyễn Tuan fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After having played for 4 minutes, Nguyễn Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kontum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vũ Than having to interfere. Phú Thọ FC's Vũ Than played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Minh in the 16th minute of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Nguyễn Nga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kontum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Nga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Thanh Bình made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Tuan in the 23rd minute of play. After 27 minutes, Nguyễn Chi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kontum and the Phú Thọ FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Nguyễn Nga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Minh took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Thanh Bình. Nguyễn Thanh Bình dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Nguyễn Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Vũ Than tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đào Tinh kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Phú Thọ FC defense, Nguyễn Minh kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vũ Than. The Phú Thọ FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vũ Than should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Minh made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Nguyễn Tuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Thanh Bình saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Nga got free with Vũ Than in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Minh in the 60th minute of play forced Phú Thọ FC's goalkeeper Vũ Than to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 65th minute by Nguyễn Nga got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Nguyễn Nga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Nguyễn Minh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Thanh Bình was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Kontum's Nguyễn Chi got a free kick in the 88th minute. When Huỳnh Lien came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Phú Thọ FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Huỳnh Lien couldn't finish the play.
