La Bay charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed La Bay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the Skyblue defense, Nguyễn Diem kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lê Anh Hung. The Skyblue fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lê Anh Hung should have stopped the shot. Nguyễn Diem fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Anh Hung having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Trần Hoang fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lê Anh Hung, passed just outside the right post. 32 minutes into the match, Skyblue's goalkeeper Lê Anh Hung had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Diem. Skyblue's Lê Anh Hung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Hoang in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Trần Hoang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Anh Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 played minutes Skyblue got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Liem. If Nguyễn Diem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute.
