When Võ Tuan fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mong Cai's protests and gave Võ Tuan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th minute, Võ Tuan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Cong Vinh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vũ Quang Thanh kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Trần Thuyet made in the 24th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Đinh Anh Hung immediately put the ball in play. Cao Xanh FC's Bùi Phuoc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đinh Anh Hung in the 25th minute of play. Võ Tuan took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bùi Phuoc. Bùi Phuoc dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. A collision led to Mong Cai getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Đinh Anh Hung hit a great ball. Bùi Phuoc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Duong, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Trần Cong Vinh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tôn Tu having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Duong to strike the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Chung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tôn Tu having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Duong in the 53rd minute of play forced Cao Xanh FC's goalkeeper Bùi Phuoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Cong Vinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Phan Thai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cao Xanh FC's Trần Cong Vinh got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bùi Phuoc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Duong in the 60th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute of the match, Đinh Anh Hung tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bùi Phuoc saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bùi Phuoc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đinh Anh Hung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tôn Tu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Chung, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Trần Cong Vinh in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tôn Tu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 67th minute, Đinh Anh Hung hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Cong Vinh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Hoai kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Bùi Phuoc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Duong in the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đinh Anh Hung in the 74th minute of play forced Cao Xanh FC's goalkeeper Bùi Phuoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Trần Cong Vinh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute of the match Cao Xanh FC got a corner. Mong Cai's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nguyễn Minh ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Trần Cong Vinh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Cao Xanh FC's Bùi Phuoc got control of the ball when Võ Tuan tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 91st minute, Trần Cong Vinh made a precise shot to the right of Tôn Tu. Mong Cai's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2.
