Lê Diem made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Hieu in the 6th minute of play. Lê Diem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Hieu, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Lê Diem stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Trần Tan's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. A collision led to Hai Phong getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Trần Bien hit a great ball. Gang Thép FC were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Hai Phong's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chung Huỳnh took the corner. Tôn Duong made a great header on Gang Thép FC's corner, it was just that Hai Phong's Lê Diem managed to reach the ball for a save. 20 minutes into the match, Gang Thép FC's goalkeeper Nguyễn Huynh Duc had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Võ Phuc. A collision led to Gang Thép FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Võ Cuc hit a great ball. Nguyễn Loc was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 23rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 26th minute, Trần Hieu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lê Diem was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience was convinced that Trần Hieu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lê Diem was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. After having played for 32 minutes, Võ Phuc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hai Phong's supporters crossed their fingers, but Võ Phuc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gang Thép FC's Nguyễn Huynh Duc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Gang Thép FC from getting a goal against them. Trần Tan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Diem having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Hai Phong's goal looked a bit too open when Trần Hieu came free, but Lê Diem reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 43 minutes into the game, when Nguyễn Liem put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Gang Thép FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hai Phong:s goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Trần Tan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hoàng Anh Hung might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lê Diem. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hoàng Anh Hung ran back to his position shaking his head. Võ Phuc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Nguyễn Huynh Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 minutes of play, Gang Thép FC's Trần Tan made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gang Thép FC's Trần Tan managed to work through Hai Phong's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Trần Tan dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Gang Thép FC's Nguyễn Huynh Duc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phạm Phuong in the 74th minute of play. Nguyễn Huynh Duc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Võ Phuc in the 75th minute of the match. Võ Phuc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Lê Diem managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Gang Thép FC's Trần Tan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nguyễn Huynh Duc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Phuong in the 92nd minute of the match. Nguyễn Huynh Duc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Huynh Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 96 minutes into the game, Hai Phong's Phạm Phuong nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
