Nguyễn Duc's late challenge caught a Hai Phong's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Duc helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Hai Phong booed when Lao Baoa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lao Baoa's goalkeeper Huỳnh Dinh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Nguyễn Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huỳnh Dinh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Huynh Duc in the 70th minute. A collision led to Hai Phong getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Phạm Tu hit a great ball. Hai Phong's Lê Diem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Phong in the 81st minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Huỳnh Dinh successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Võ Phuc got free with Huỳnh Dinh in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 87 minutes into the game, Phạm Phuong recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Huỳnh Dinh. Phạm Phuong showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Nguyễn Viet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Huỳnh Dinh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Lao Baoa fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Hai Phong were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
