Son La's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vinah Long the free kick. After 17 minutes, Nguyễn Nguyet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Son La and the Vinah Long players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nguyễn Nguyet kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. 20 minutes in the game, Nguyễn Ho fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Nguyễn Pham having to interfere. In the 21st minute Nguyễn Ho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Pham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26thth minute of the game Trần Diem who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vinah Long's Nguyễn Bien was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Ho kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 31st minute of the match, Huỳnh Chung tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nguyễn Pham saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A collision led to Son La getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Nguyễn Hung hit a great ball. Nguyễn Ho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Vinah Long's goal looked a bit too open when Lưu Phu came free, but Nguyễn Bien reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 played minutes Vinah Long got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Thi Ngoc. 39 minutes into the match, Son La's Lưu Phu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Bien narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nguyễn Ho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nguyễn Pham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Trần Diem to strike the kick off in the second half. When Nguyễn Chuong came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Vinah Long fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Chuong couldn't finish the play. 54 minutes into the game, Vinah Long's Nguyễn Ho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Pham made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Thi Ngoc in the 57th minute of play forced Son La's goalkeeper Nguyễn Pham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lê Tuan Hoang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Pham having to interfere. After 76 minutes of play, Son La's Lưu Phu made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Bien was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Huỳnh Chung in the 85th minute of play forced Son La's goalkeeper Nguyễn Pham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Bien made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Lưu Phu sent off a good shot on target. Lưu Phu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Nguyễn Bien made a huge save. Vinah Long's Nguyễn Bien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Diem in the 94th minute of play.
