Nguyễn Van Tai Em charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Van Tai Em the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 13th minute, Nguyễn Van Tai Em hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeronimo Araoz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Đoàn Mai made a huge save. 24 minutes into the match, Poseidon's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Sá came free, but Mattias Thorsberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Poseidon getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Lưu Phuong hit a great ball. Mattias Thorsberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Liễu Phu in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match, Vágner Dias got a very nice opportunity to score, but Đoàn Mai was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Boleslaw Moizuk blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Đoàn Mai having to make a save. In the 38th minute, Liễu Phu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cao Bang Red Star fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timoteo Dimas in the 41st minute of play forced Poseidon's goalkeeper Mattias Thorsberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mattias Thorsberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Sá, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Poseidon's Mattias Thorsberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Sá in the 45th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cao Bang Red Star's Timoteo Dimas got a free kick in the 46th minute. Vágner Dias might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Đoàn Mai. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vágner Dias ran back to his position shaking his head.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomás Sá to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Poseidon getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Evaristo Gaitano hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Euneos Georgas during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
