Tạ Nga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from La Hung in the 18th minute of play. If Mai Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Viet recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Võ Tan. Nguyễn Viet showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Bac Ninh's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that La Hung was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 38thth minute of the game La Hung who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bac Ninh's Tạ Nga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Đặng Chi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Tạ Nga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mai Minh was the one to do the kick off. Nguyễn Minh charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Minh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th minute Trần Thanh Bình shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Võ Tan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Đặng Chi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tạ Nga came out and tried to block the shot, but Đặng Chi slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 58th minute. In the 63rd minute, Nguyễn Cadeo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Bac Ninh's zone, Đặng Chi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tạ Nga came out of the goal and Đặng Chi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 68 minutes, Đặng Chi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Binh Dinh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Đặng Chi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. La Hung could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Tạ Nga made a huge save. When Đặng Chi came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Binh Dinh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đặng Chi couldn't finish the play. If Đặng Chi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Đặng Chi in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tạ Nga saved Bac Ninh from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đặng Chi in the 88th minute of play forced Bac Ninh's goalkeeper Tạ Nga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Đặng Chi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Tạ Nga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When La Hung came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Binh Dinh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that La Hung couldn't finish the play. Binh Dinh's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
