With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Huynh Duc in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Võ Tan saved Binh Dinh from getting behind. Lê Phu hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 5thth minute of the game Phạm Phuong who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Binh Dinh's Võ Tan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 7 played minutes Binh Dinh got a freekick which was hit by Vũ Bay. 8 minutes into the game, Phạm Phuong cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Võ Tan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Võ Phuc in the 12th minute of play forced Binh Dinh's goalkeeper Võ Tan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute Phạm Phuong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Võ Tan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phạm Phuong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Võ Tan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Võ Phuc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Đặng Chi struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Lê Diem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Binh Dinh. An unexpectedly hard shot by Võ Phuc in the 29th minute of play forced Binh Dinh's goalkeeper Võ Tan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. La Hung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Diem having to interfere. Nguyễn Loc, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hai Phong's zone, La Hung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lê Diem came out of the goal and La Hung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phạm Phuong to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Hai Phong's Võ Phuc made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Võ Tan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Võ Phuc's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Võ Tan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Võ Tan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Phuong in the 57th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Binh Dinh's goalkeeper Võ Tan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Võ Phuc. Nguyễn Cadeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Binh Dinh booed when Hai Phong was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Huynh Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Đặng Chi's late challenge caught a Hai Phong's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Đặng Chi helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Binh Dinh getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Đặng Chi hit a great ball. Võ Phuc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Võ Tan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Phuong in the 66th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Binh Dinh's La Hung sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lê Diem narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute Phạm Phuong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Võ Tan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Võ Phucs short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Võ Tan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Đặng Chi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Diem having to interfere. Hai Phong's Phạm Phuong got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Hai Phong eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
