Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Phạm Tho started the match with the kick off. In the 7thth minute of the game Trương Phuoc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Son La's Nguyễn Pham was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 9th minute, Son La's Trần Diem ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Trần Chuong. Trần Chuong yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Lưu Phu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lưu Phu charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lưu Phu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Son La's Lưu Phu got a free kick in the 18th minute. After 20 minutes of play, Hoa Binh's Trương Phuoc made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Pham was left in no man's land by his defense there! Trương Phuoc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Nguyễn Pham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hoa Binh's Trần Chuong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Diem in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute Phạm Tho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Pham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trần Chuong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Diem in the 32nd minute of the match. Trương Phuoc's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Pham read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Nguyễn Dung's late challenge caught a Son La's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Dung helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, Hoa Binh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Dung to maneuver through the defense. Trần Chuong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Diem in the 37th minute of the match. Nguyễn Pham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trương Phuoc in the 39th minute of play. Nguyễn Pham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Tho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Nguyễn Binh hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Hoa Binh's Nguyễn Pham threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Phạm Tho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 61 minutes into the game, Son La's Trần Diem nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trần Chuong made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Trần Diem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 66 minutes of play Hoa Binh's Nguyễn Dung was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Hoa Binh getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nguyễn Dung hit a great ball. Hoa Binh's Trần Chuong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Diem in the 67th minute of play. Son La's Lưu Phu got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Lưu Phu made a precise shot to the right of Trần Chuong. Hoa Binh's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After a rather tough play, Hoa Binh's Phan Tuyet got a free kick in the 81st minute. Nguyễn Binh took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Trần Chuong. Hoa Binh's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Son La's Lưu Phu in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hoa Binh's goalie prevented a goal. Nguyễn Pham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trương Phuoc in the 86th minute. Trần Chuong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Diem, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute, Trương Phuoc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Son La fans cheered their team off the field, for while Hoa Binh had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
