Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tuyet in the 5th minute of play. Nguyễn Thien showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phan Hong in the 9th minute of the match. A collision led to Hai Duong getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Nguyễn Minh Phượng hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hai Duong's zone, Phạm Nam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thien came out of the goal and Phạm Nam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Phan Hong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tay Ninh's supporters rose to their feet, but Phan Hong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Thien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Phan Hong could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Thien made a huge save. Nguyễn Dung charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Dung the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Hai Duong booed when Tay Ninh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Dung didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Phan Hong came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Tay Ninh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Hong couldn't finish the play. Lê Nghiêm-Minh scored 2-0 in the 49th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nguyễn Thien, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Trần Hong Minh was the one to do the kick off. Phan Hong kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st match minute, Tay Ninh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bùi Hoang to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Nguyễn Nga in the 62nd minute really tested Huỳnh Minh-ha's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Phạm Nam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Phạm Nam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nguyễn Thien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phan Hong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Hai Duong's Triệu Viet got a free kick in the 99th minute. Tay Ninh walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
