Zumar Villabona scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Set Doig, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Set Doig showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zumar Villabona, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Minh City FC booed when Hai Duong was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Minh didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Arthur Clarke put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Set Doig. Set Doig showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ngô Duy in the 27th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ngô Duy in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Set Doig saved Minh City FC from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Zumar Villabona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hai Duong's supporters rose to their feet, but Zumar Villabona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Set Doig breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 31st match minute, Hai Duong was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huỳnh Mai to maneuver through the defense. 35 minutes into the game, Zumar Villabona was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hai Duong's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Minh City FC the free kick. Zumar Villabona hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Minh City FC's Set Doig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zumar Villabona in the 45th minute of play. Hai Duong's Osman Şenel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Hai Duong from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zumar Villabona to strike the kick off in the second half. Ngô Duy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Set Doig showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zumar Villabona in the 84th minute of the match. In the 87th match minute, Hai Duong was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huỳnh Mai to maneuver through the defense. Minh City FC's Set Doig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zumar Villabona in the 90th minute of play. Hai Duong's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
