Wombwell
Spectators: 6797 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1797, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Sarb Braddell took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Sarb Braddell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anil Chan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicholas Hsin in the 5th minute of play. Sarb Braddell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Sarb Braddell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anil Chan was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Anil Chan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Chandran in the 11th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Samuel Chandran ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anil Chan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Nicholas Hsin put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Anil Chan. 21 minutes into the match, Wombwell's goal looked a bit too open when Sarb Braddell came free, but Anil Chan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anil Chan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Chandran in the 22nd minute of the match. If Samuel Chandran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Samuel Chandran came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Padang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Chandran couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shahiran Seng in the 30th minute of play forced Padang's goalkeeper Noh Nair to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Nicholas Hsin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Padang's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicholas Hsin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anil Chan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Wombwell getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. SK Chew hit a great ball. After 35 minutes Wombwell's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ong Chuan who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Samuel Chandran almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Wombwell's Anil Chan did a great save. Anil Chan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sarb Braddell, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 39th minute, Iskandar Lum made a precise shot to the right of Anil Chan. Wombwell's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Padang's Iskandar Lum managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Amirul Sum in the 42 minute of the game. 45 minutes into the match, Samuel Chandran had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anil Chan. Wombwell's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuel Chandran was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
John Lum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Anil Chan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th match minute, Wombwell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rifqi Nagasaki to maneuver through the defense. Wombwell's Anil Chan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Wombwell from getting a goal against them. In the 59th minute, Wombwell's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Sarb Braddell fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Sarb Braddell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gage Teo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Samuel Chandran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 68 minutes, Shahiran Seng managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wombwell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shahiran Seng was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Padang's Nicholas Hsin got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anil Chan didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Padang's Nicholas Hsin shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-5 in the ordered_time% minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Samuel Chandran got free with Anil Chan in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 78 minutes, Anil Chan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 80thth minute of the game Iskandar Lum who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wombwell's Anil Chan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Samuel Chandran came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Padang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Chandran couldn't finish the play. John Lum recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nicholas Hsin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuel Chandran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuel Chandran struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Anil Chan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padang. When the match was over Padang could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wombwell throughout the match.
