The player immediately received a yellow card. 13 minutes into the game, one of Padang:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ali Yi-Sheng showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicholas Hsin, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Farhan Politiek got free with Noh Nair in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samuel Chandran in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ali Yi-Sheng prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 24 minutes into the game, Farhan Politiek was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sanskrit FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Padang the free kick. The supporters of Padang booed when Sanskrit FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Farhan Politiek didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sanskrit FC's Ali Yi-Sheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sarb Braddell in the 26th minute of play. After 27 played minutes Sanskrit FC got a freekick which was hit by Sean Laycock. When Nicholas Hsin came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Padang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicholas Hsin couldn't finish the play. Sanskrit FC's Ali Yi-Sheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iskandar Lum in the 29th minute of play. Iskandar Dyce charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iskandar Dyce the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 played minutes Sanskrit FC got a freekick which was hit by Iskandar Dyce. Ali Yi-Sheng stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samuel Chandran's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. If Iskandar Lum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sarb Braddell in the 35th minute of play forced Sanskrit FC's goalkeeper Ali Yi-Sheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sanskrit FC's goalkeeper Ali Yi-Sheng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Sarb Braddell made a precise shot to the right of Ali Yi-Sheng. Sanskrit FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 44th match minute, Padang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ong Chuan to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute SK Chong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noh Nair saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Sarb Braddell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Yi-Sheng having to interfere. Samuel Chandran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ali Yi-Sheng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sanskrit FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 58th minute, when Samuel Chandran scored to the left of an out of position Ali Yi-Sheng, making the score, 0-3. Ali Yi-Sheng came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Padang's Sarb Braddell. But to his dismay, Sarb Braddell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Sarb Braddell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ali Yi-Sheng read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Samuel Chandran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Ali Yi-Sheng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Farhan Politiek in the 70th minute of play forced Padang's goalkeeper Noh Nair to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 71st minute, Padang's Nicholas Hsin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ali Yi-Sheng. Ali Yi-Sheng yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. Gage Teo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ali Yi-Sheng having to make a save. Sanskrit FC's Ali Yi-Sheng proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Sanskrit FC from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Nicholas Hsin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ali Yi-Sheng. That made the score 0-6 in the 81 minute of play. Ong Chuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Yi-Sheng having to interfere. In the 87thth minute of the game Iskandar Lum who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sanskrit FC's Ali Yi-Sheng was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Sanskrit FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Padang were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
