Wei Xuan Au took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicholas Abisheganaden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicholas Abisheganaden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Wei Xuan Au tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anil Chong's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 6thth minute, Wei Xuan Au skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Amirul Tan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Faizal Au tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Wiveliscombe getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Darren Kang hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Wiveliscombe's goal looked a bit too open when Nicholas Abisheganaden came free, but Wei Xuan Au reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anil Chong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wei Xuan Au having to interfere. Albert Amin charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Albert Amin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Wiveliscombe getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Albert Amin hit a great ball. In the 17th minute, Anil Chong left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Basingstoke United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Faizal Au made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hafriz Seng in the 22nd minute of play. Wei Xuan Au was a little too slow when Nicholas Abisheganaden got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Wiveliscombe's zone, Wong Chai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wei Xuan Au came out of the goal and Wong Chai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anil Chong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wei Xuan Au made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Anil Chong sent off a good shot on target. If Nicholas Abisheganaden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Darryl Singh fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wiveliscombe's protests and gave Darryl Singh a yellow card for diving instead. Anil Chongs short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Wei Xuan Au to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Wiveliscombe getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Hafriz Seng hit a great ball. Basingstoke United's Anil Chong got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wiveliscombe's Wei Xuan Au played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicholas Abisheganaden in the 42nd minute of play. A collision led to Basingstoke United getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Wong Chai hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Wiveliscombe's zone, Anil Chong stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wei Xuan Au came out of the goal and Anil Chong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Azly Hongyi to make the kick off. Anil Chong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Azly Hongyi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faizal Au having to interfere. Anil Chong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Wei Xuan Au tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nicholas Abisheganaden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anil Chong blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wei Xuan Au having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Amirul Tan got free with Faizal Au in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Basingstoke United getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Gage Kang hit a great ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Anil Chong managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Basingstoke United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anil Chong was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
