The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Royal Gunners FC booed when Alwinton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rifki Nair didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute Faris Politiek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aziz Hsin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Azli Gopala Pillai stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anil Shyan's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. If Wei Xuan Namasivayam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Rifki Nair fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alwinton United's protests and gave Rifki Nair a yellow card for diving instead. Rifki Nair hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. When Anil Shyan came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Royal Gunners FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anil Shyan couldn't finish the play. The Royal Gunners FC fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Royal Gunners FC's Sarb Hongyi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Alwinton United's Azli Gopala Pillai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anil Shyan in the 36th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anil Shyan to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Anil Shyan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Royal Gunners FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. In the 57th minute, Royal Gunners FC's Anil Shyan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Azli Gopala Pillai. Azli Gopala Pillai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anil Shyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. After 81 minutes of play Alwinton United's Rifki Nair was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Rifki Nair hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Anil Shyan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Azli Gopala Pillai having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Alwinton United's Gara Sum got a free kick in the 88th minute. Azli Gopala Pillai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anil Shyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Darryl Yi-Sheng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Azli Gopala Pillai having to interfere. If Anil Shyan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alwinton United's goalkeeper Azli Gopala Pillai, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match was over Royal Gunners FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Alwinton United throughout the match.
