In the 4th match minute, Southwold was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Yi-Sheng to maneuver through the defense. Sharizan Siang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sharizan Hoe in the 4th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Astley's zone, Bineesh Dyce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Seng came out of the goal and Bineesh Dyce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bineesh Dyce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Joel Seng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Danial Liang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ong Ching took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Joel Seng. Astley's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Joel Seng showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bineesh Dyce, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Astley's goalkeeper Joel Seng had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Khairul Liang. In the 37th minute Faiz Choy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sharizan Siang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sharizan Siang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sharizan Hoe in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Bineesh Dyce made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iskandar Pillai in the 53rd minute of play forced Astley's goalkeeper Joel Seng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Khairul Liang came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Southwold fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Khairul Liang couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Southwold's Sharizan Siang got control of the ball when Faiz Choy tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Bineesh Dyce's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joel Seng was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Faiz Choy in the 62ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Faiz Choy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Astley's supporters rose to their feet, but Faiz Choy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sharizan Siang breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 81 played minutes Southwold got a freekick which was hit by Muhammad Politiek. Faiz Choy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sharizan Siang having to interfere. 88 minutes into the game, Sharizan Dhanabalan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Astley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Southwold the free kick. After 89 played minutes Astley got a freekick which was hit by Sharizan Dhanabalan. Astley's Faiz Choy got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
