The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bineesh Dyce during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 minutes, Alexander Ching mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Middlesbrough and the Southwold players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Bineesh Dyce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southwold's supporters rose to their feet, but Bineesh Dyce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alam Kang breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bineesh Dyce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alam Kang having to interfere. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Middlesbrough's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ong Ching was slow to take the kick. During this time Southwold's players had a chance to rest. After having played for 18 minutes, Bineesh Dyce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southwold's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bineesh Dyce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute, Khairul Liang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bineesh Dyce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Alam Kang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ang Kang's late challenge caught a Southwold's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ang Kang helped the player get up and apologised. Middlesbrough's Alam Kang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Khairul Liang in the 44th minute of play. A collision led to Southwold getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Muhammad Politiek hit a great ball. Famih Lim's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sharizan Siang read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Muhammad Politiek hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Alam Kang made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Khairul Liang sent off a good shot on target. 62 minutes into the match, Middlesbrough's goal looked a bit too open when Bineesh Dyce came free, but Alam Kang reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Southwold's Bineesh Dyce got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alam Kang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bineesh Dyce, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. In the 99th minute Southwold were awarded a corner. Ong Ching went to the cornerflag to take it. The Middlesbrough fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Southwold were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
