Niveksters FC's Ron Keng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Azam Chong in the 31st minute of play. Hamir Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ron Keng having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Niveksters FC's Mohammad Pieng got a free kick in the 34th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Niveksters FC's zone, Hamir Teo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ron Keng came out of the goal and Hamir Teo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Azam Chong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ron Keng was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, Hamir Teo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ron Keng was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Hamir Teo hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 72nd minute Alex Henderson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicholas Phua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicholas Phua breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Azam Chong might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ron Keng. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Azam Chong ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hamir Teo got free with Ron Keng in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
