The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Swadlincote's goalkeeper Wong Teo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bryan Chong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the game, Swadlincote's Bryan Chong nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lamar Yip made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Afiz Hsi notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Red Stags F.C.'s Lamar Yip. After 36 minutes, Khairul Tan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Red Stags F.C. and the Swadlincote players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th minute Afiz Hsi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lamar Yip saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afiz Hsi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lamar Yip having to make a save. Lamar Yip stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bryan Chong's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Clive Ramachandran made the kick off in the second half. Afiz Hsi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lamar Yip didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 54th minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. With a little luck, Red Stags F.C.'s Lamar Yip got control of the ball when Afiz Hsi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lamar Yip made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Chong in the 72nd minute of play. A collision led to Red Stags F.C. getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Sean Hian hit a great ball. Lamar Yip showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bryan Chong in the 75th minute of the match. Red Stags F.C.'s Clive Ramachandran got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Afiz Hsi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lee Hee hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Swadlincote's zone, Shahiran Ramachandran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wong Teo came out of the goal and Shahiran Ramachandran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bryan Chong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Chong in the 97th minute of play forced Red Stags F.C.'s goalkeeper Lamar Yip to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Swadlincote played a much better game than Red Stags F.C. and deserved their victory. The Red Stags F.C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
