In the 14th minute Danish Nair shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Chuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Faris Nagasaki hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute, Danish Nair made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Chuan. LionsXII's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Faizal Choy charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Muhammad Tuan in the 22nd minute of play forced Combe Martian United's goalkeeper Alex Shyan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danish Nair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Jonathan Chuan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gabriel Boon took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Chuan. Jonathan Chuan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. If Wei Xuan Chong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. LionsXII's Jonathan Chuan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danish Nair in the 32nd minute of play. If Zak Namasivayam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabriel Boon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Chuan having to make a save. If Danish Nair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Danish Nair made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Chuan. LionsXII's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. In the 47th minute, Ang Ning ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Chuan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Jonathan Chew fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Combe Martian United's protests and gave Jonathan Chew a yellow card for diving instead. In the 53rd minute, Jonathan Chew hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alex Shyan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Muhammad Tuan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jonathan Chew in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Chuan saved LionsXII from getting behind. A collision led to LionsXII getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Asiz Yi-Sheng hit a great ball. If Danish Nair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 63rdth minute of the game Jonathan Chew who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LionsXII's Jonathan Chuan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Danish Nair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Chuan having to interfere. The throw-in from Faris Nagasaki in the 69th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Combe Martian United's Gabriel Boon. Jonathan Chuan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danish Nair, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Jonathan Chews short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Jonathan Chuan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 73rd minute Muhammad Tuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Shyan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LionsXII's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Danish Nair 77 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-8. Danish Nair sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 89 minutes into the match, Danish Nair dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Chuan, 0-9. The supporters of LionsXII booed when Combe Martian United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zak Namasivayam didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danish Nair in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Chuan saved LionsXII from getting behind. Victor Seah blasted a shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Chuan having to make a save.
