The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Shahron Lim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alam Tan in the 3rd minute of play. Sharizan Politiek charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sharizan Politiek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 4th minute, one of Leconfield:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Leconfield. During the 8th minute of the match Sharizan Politiek completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Sharizan Politiek a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Leconfield's Sharizan Politiek got a free kick in the 9th minute. Wei Xuan Cho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zack Chai in the 14th minute of the match. If Hafriz Soon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Launceston's zone, Shahron Leng stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wei Xuan Cho came out of the goal and Shahron Leng tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hafriz Soon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wei Xuan Cho having to interfere. Wei Xuan Cho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shafiq Rajah, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. If Amir Chong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hafriz Soon was the one to do the kick off. Launceston's Wei Xuan Cho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Launceston from getting a goal against them. After 54 minutes, Gage Seng mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Launceston and the Leconfield players grew even worse after the yellow card. With his leg Wei Xuan Cho managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Leconfield's Hafriz Soon fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hafriz Soon got free with Wei Xuan Cho in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Shafiq Rajah sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Amir Chong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Launceston's supporters rose to their feet, but Amir Chong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Shahron Lim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 78th minute, Shafiq Rajah got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Shahron Leng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Wei Xuan Cho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Wei Xuan Cho managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when Leconfield's Hafriz Soon fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wei Xuan Cho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Shafiq Rajah went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 90th minute, Hafriz Soon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leconfield fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Hafriz Soon struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Wei Xuan Cho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leconfield. The Launceston fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Leconfield were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
