Spectators: 6499 (Terracing: 5111, Seating: 1333, VIP seats: 55) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jonathan Hock started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Khairul Wah cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Albert Tioe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Shenley City getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Muhammad Chan hit a great ball. Muhammad Chan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Bryan Chew tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Wong Tan fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newton Heath FC's protests and gave Wong Tan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28th minute, Muhammad Chan fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The Shenley City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Newton Heath FC were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Muhammad Chan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albert Tioe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Hock in the 53rd minute of play. Albert Tioe made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Khairul Wah sent off a good shot on target. Jithu Ramachandran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryan Chew having to interfere. Albert Tioe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Hock in the 62nd minute of play. Albert Tioe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Khairul Wah in the 64th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Newton Heath FC's goal looked a bit too open when Muhammad Chan came free, but Bryan Chew reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bryan Chew took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Muhammad Chan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shenley City's Azli Tioe got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Afiq Sim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Muhammad Chan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Newton Heath FC's Jithu Soon got a free kick in the 80th minute. Bryan Chew showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Muhammad Chan in the 85th minute of the match. When Jonathan Hock came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Newton Heath FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonathan Hock couldn't finish the play. Newton Heath FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
