The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, Rayleigh's goalkeeper Bryan Hian had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aziz Singh. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Muhammad Namasivayam during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 15th match minute, Runcorn AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Muhammad Namasivayam to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Runcorn AFC's goalkeeper Faiz Shiong, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aziz Singh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryan Hian having to interfere. Dale Sim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aziz Singh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 27th minute, Rudy Tan made a precise shot to the right of Faiz Shiong. Runcorn AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rudy Tan in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Faiz Shiong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 36 minutes of play Runcorn AFC's Muhammad Namasivayam was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Muhammad Namasivayam hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. A collision led to Rayleigh getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Hamir Yip hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aziz Singh stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Rayleigh's Mark Yip made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Faiz Shiong was left in no man's land by his defense there! Faiz Shiong didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rudy Tan went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Noh Dhanabalan placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Mark Yip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faiz Shiong having to interfere. When Rayleigh's Mark Yip, in the 70th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Rayleigh. After having played for 72 minutes, Mark Yip managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rayleigh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mark Yip was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Merlin Lim kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Runcorn AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Mark Yip fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Mark Yip struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Runcorn AFC's Faiz Shiong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rudy Tan in the 82nd minute of play. The supporters of Runcorn AFC booed when Rayleigh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zafran Hongyi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 85 minutes, Merlin Lim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Runcorn AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Merlin Lim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rayleigh's goalkeeper Bryan Hian, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Faiz Shiong acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 98th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Noh Dhanabalan. The Rayleigh players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
