Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rudy Tan kicked off to start the match. After having played for 6 minutes, Bineesh Lee managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bineesh Lee was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Danish Hsin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryan Hian having to interfere. John Hui made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Mark Yip sent off a good shot on target. 12 minutes into the match, Danish Hsin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bryan Hian. Rayleigh's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Danish Hsin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Bineesh Lee might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bryan Hian. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bineesh Lee ran back to his position shaking his head. Bryan Hian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bineesh Lee, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Danish Hsin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Danish Hsin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bryan Hian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danish Hsin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rudy Tan in the 30th minute of play forced Hertford's goalkeeper John Hui to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rayleigh's Bryan Hian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danish Hsin in the 35th minute of play. If Bineesh Lee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hamir Swee's late challenge caught a Rayleigh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hamir Swee helped the player get up and apologised. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danish Hsin to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Rayleigh's zone, Danish Hsin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bryan Hian came out of the goal and Danish Hsin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Rayleigh's Bryan Hian got control of the ball when Danish Hsin tried to sneak it across the goal line. John Hui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mark Yip in the 64th minute of the match. A collision led to Rayleigh getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Hamir Yip hit a great ball. In the 72nd minute, Danish Hsin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rayleigh's Bryan Hian proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Rayleigh from getting a goal against them. John Hui made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamir Yip in the 77th minute of play. If Hamir Yip had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. John Hui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamir Yip, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. John Hui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hamir Yip in the 81st minute of the match. Mark Yip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Hui having to interfere. In the 85th minute Rudy Tan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Hui saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Rayleigh's Zafran Hongyi got a free kick in the 88th minute. Hertford were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
