Stelian Iordache started the match with the kick off. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Mark Phua put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Arif Lim. Arif Lim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mark Phua went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 17th minute, Stelian Iordache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arif Lim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Lee, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stelian Iordache in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arif Lim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th minute, Hamir Pillai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes into the match, Geylang River Otters's Stelian Iordache sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arif Lim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Geylang River Otters's Alif Cho got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 34 minutes into the game, Jerry Lee cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Arif Lim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 37 minutes into the match, Spang FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stelian Iordache came free, but Arif Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Wei Xuan Yi-Sheng had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arif Lim. Spang FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wei Xuan Yi-Sheng was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. 42 minutes into the match, Stelian Iordache had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arif Lim. Arif Lim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stelian Iordache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Stelian Iordache notched a goal, 0-7, to the right of Spang FC's Arif Lim. Arif Lim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-7 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alexander Sim made a kick off. Stelian Iordache recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Spang FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jerry Lee fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Geylang River Otters's Stelian Iordache slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arif Lim. That made the score 0-8 after 55 minutes of play. Stelian Iordache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arif Lim having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Spang FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stelian Iordache came free, but Arif Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 64 minutes, Stelian Iordache managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Geylang River Otters's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stelian Iordache was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mark Phua got free with Arif Lim in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Spang FC's Arif Lim got control of the ball when Mark Phua tried to sneak it across the goal line. 69 minutes into the game, Mark Phua cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-9. Arif Lim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Geylang River Otters fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when Geylang River Otters's Mark Phua looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-10 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 83 played minutes Spang FC got a freekick which was hit by Zafran Low. In the 85th minute of the match, Mark Phua got a very nice opportunity to score, but Arif Lim was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jerry Lee received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arif Lim came out and tried to block the shot, but Jerry Lee slotted it home off the left post making it 0-12 in the 86th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Arif Lim successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Arif Lim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mark Phua went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-13 was the resulting score. When Mark Phua came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Geylang River Otters fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mark Phua couldn't finish the play. Geylang River Otters played a much better game than Spang FC and deserved their victory. The Spang FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
