The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Lee Wenyong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Lee Wenyong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wong Dyce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ken FC's Wong Dyce proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Ken FC from getting a goal against them. Arif Hsi's late challenge caught a Birkendale Rangers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arif Hsi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th minute, Arif Hsi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lee Wenyong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wong Dyce having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerard Dyce in the 19th minute of play forced Birkendale Rangers's goalkeeper Bryan Yip to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sean Teo kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Ken FC's Fariz Ning broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. During the 24th minute of the match Arif Hsi completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Arif Hsi a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 32nd minute, Ken FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lee Wenyong fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 48th minute, Steven Sum reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wong Dyce. The goal made the score 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Lee Wenyong made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Lee Wenyong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wong Dyce was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lee Wenyong in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wong Dyce prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felix Chuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Bryan Yip tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Lee Wenyong made a precise shot to the right of Wong Dyce. Ken FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. When Lee Wenyong came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Birkendale Rangers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lee Wenyong couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Birkendale Rangers getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Farhan Yeo hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ken FC's zone, Steven Sum stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wong Dyce came out of the goal and Steven Sum tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steven Choy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Wong Dyce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steven Choy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Birkendale Rangers's Steven Choy got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
