Samuel Tan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lee Wenyong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Afiz Chandran hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th minute Lee Wenyong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Tan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Azli Rajah made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ryan Sarangapani during the 52nd minute. After 58 minutes of play, Harolld Hill's Azli Rajah made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Samuel Tan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven Sum, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Soon in the 96th minute of play forced Birkendale Rangers's goalkeeper Bryan Yip to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Birkendale Rangers's zone, Alex Pieng stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bryan Yip came out of the goal and Alex Pieng tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Birkendale Rangers played a much better game than Harolld Hill and deserved their victory. The Harolld Hill players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
