Manila Bears's supporters crossed their fingers, but Papi Masibay was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adolph Tumanda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harolde Mercado having to interfere. Alex Llaban sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Papi Masibay to make the kick off. Papi Masibay's late challenge caught a FC Pulupandan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Papi Masibay helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC Pulupandan booed when Manila Bears was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Papi Masibay didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tonying Dequilla in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ali Vinoray saved Manila Bears from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Manila Bears's Allen Paranpan got a free kick in the 58th minute. Tonying Dequilla scored 1-0 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ali Vinoray, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 88 minutes, Adolph Tumanda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manila Bears and the FC Pulupandan players grew even worse after the yellow card. Many of Manila Bears's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Manila Bears may have spent more time on the ball, but FC Pulupandan were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
