In the 5th minute, Wim Wilmes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Er Miner was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Washington Demartis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. Washington Demartis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Er Miner came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dida Carioca in the 17th minute. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Countdown FC's goalkeeper Er Miner, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Er Miner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Washington Demartis sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Countdown FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Diguinho Rezende hit a great ball. In the 37th match minute, Countdown FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dida Carioca to maneuver through the defense. 40 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Lars Meesters nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Er Miner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The supporters of Countdown FC booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gijsbert ter Kruimer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Countdown FC's Er Miner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Er Miner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Washington Demartis came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as David Eikelkamp kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Er Miner. That made the score 0-4 in the 61 minute of play. Countdown FC's Er Miner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Countdown FC from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Countdown FC's Er Miner got control of the ball when Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Countdown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 70th minute really tested Er Miner's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When Countdown FC's Washington Demartis in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Netherlands's goalie prevented a goal. After 73 minutes Netherlands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Diguinho Rezende who took care of the corner kick. In the 76th minute of the match, Lars Meesters tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Er Miner saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Er Miner having to interfere. Countdown FC's Er Miner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 81st minute of play. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 82nd minute. The corner ended in Wim Wilmes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Countdown FC's Er Miner did a great save. Countdown FC's Er Miner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Countdown FC from getting a goal against them. Er Miner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 87th minute of the match. After 91 played minutes Countdown FC got a freekick which was hit by Válter Dante. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Er Miner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Netherlands's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
