Spectators: 6737 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1737, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rudy Oneill kicked off to start the match. Excelsior FC's Reginald Mills proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Excelsior FC from getting a goal against them. Andy Crawford kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Ashby's Christian Magnay got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Excelsior FC's Cole Hoskin got a free kick in the 20th minute. Rudy Oneill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjy Diefenbach having to interfere. Christian Magnay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 30 played minutes Ashby got a freekick which was hit by Christian Magnay. If Rudy Oneill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute Rudy Oneill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjy Diefenbach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgar Collings hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ollie Finden during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 40 minutes, Brandon Gaines managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ashby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brandon Gaines was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andy Crawford's late challenge caught a Ashby's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Andy Crawford helped the player get up and apologised. Andy Crawford kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Ashby's Brandon Gaines got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brandon Gaines stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rudy Oneill hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Rudy Oneill in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Benjy Diefenbach, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After having played for 63 minutes, Rudy Oneill managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Excelsior FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rudy Oneill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rudy Oneill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Benjy Diefenbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd minute, Rudy Oneill made a precise shot to the right of Benjy Diefenbach. Ashby's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Excelsior FC's Reginald Mills played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Magnay in the 76th minute of play. Benjy Diefenbach made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Grant Heberle sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Ashby booed when Excelsior FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cole Hoskin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernest Eastman's late challenge caught a Ashby's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernest Eastman helped the player get up and apologised. 82 minutes into the game, one of Excelsior FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 84 minutes into the match, Jerrard Durbin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reginald Mills. Excelsior FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jerrard Durbin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. In the 89th minute, Andy Crawford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jerrard Durbin was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Reginald Mills made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Magnay in the 94th minute of play. In the 96th minute Ashby were awarded a corner. Jerrard Durbin went to the cornerflag to take it. Ashby's Jerrard Durbin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Reginald Mills in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Excelsior FC played a much better game than Ashby and deserved their victory. The Ashby players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
