After 2 minutes, Matthew Merz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ashby and the Fairview players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Fairview fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Fairview's Phenix Clark looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tom Wadley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjy Diefenbach having to interfere. Benjy Diefenbach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phenix Clark in the 14th minute of play. Luck Pound sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Fairview's Phenix Clark in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ashby's goalie prevented a goal. Benjy Diefenbach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Wadley in the 26th minute of the match. Christian Magnay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute Tom Wadley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjy Diefenbach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Phenix Clark came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Fairview fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phenix Clark couldn't finish the play. Phenix Clark's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benjy Diefenbach read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Tom Wadley made the kick off in the second half. Phenix Clark recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Ashby's Benjy Diefenbach got control of the ball when Phenix Clark tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Tom Wadley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Magnay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ashby's Benjy Diefenbach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Wadley in the 67th minute of play. Phenix Clark received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Benjy Diefenbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phenix Clark sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, Ashby's goalkeeper Benjy Diefenbach had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Phenix Clark. Ashby's Benjy Diefenbach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Wadley in the 79th minute of play. Phenix Clark succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 82nd playminute. Phenix Clark fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjy Diefenbach having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Benjy Diefenbach successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Tom Wadley was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Fairview's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Fairview's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
