If Earnest Mccartan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Merlion Patriots FC's Jeffray Houldsworth got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Earnest Mccartan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Bray Malacarne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeffray Houldsworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brockman Heys stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Sydney Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Marshal Mcgirr. Bray Malacarne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryan Sennett in the 58th minute of the match. Earnest Mccartan might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bray Malacarne. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Earnest Mccartan ran back to his position shaking his head. Bray Malacarne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brockman Stockwin in the 61st minute of the match. In the 66th match minute, Sydney Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Benton to maneuver through the defense.
