In the 4th match minute, Fosterville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jessop Lyle to maneuver through the defense. Gregory Quinane sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Benson Adair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Biddle Tevelien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gregory Hollis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Biddle Tevelien, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Zack Wilson could shoot a difficult shot in the 18th minute, which Gregory Hollis however easily saved by the left post. With an all-out effort, Fosterville's Gregory Hollis threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Biddle Tevelien, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 29 minutes, Luck Hursey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fosterville and the Lyrup players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Lyrup booed when Fosterville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luck Hursey didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gregory Quinane in the 31st minute of play forced Fosterville's goalkeeper Irwin Wakefield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Irwin Wakefield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benson Adair, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Drew Kuch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfred Mcinnes hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When Jayden Buckland came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Fosterville fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jayden Buckland couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benson Adair stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Biddle Tevelien's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gregory Hollis was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. In the 60th minute Zack Wilson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregory Hollis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregory Hollis came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Fosterville's Zack Wilson. But to his dismay, Zack Wilson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Gregory Hollis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zack Wilson in the 65th minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the match, Benson Adair tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Irwin Wakefield saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gregory Quinane might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Irwin Wakefield. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gregory Quinane ran back to his position shaking his head. Gregory Hollis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zack Wilson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute, Luck Hursey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute of the match, Benson Adair tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Irwin Wakefield saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gregory Hollis came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Fosterville's Biddle Tevelien. But to his dismay, Biddle Tevelien quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Lyrup's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
