Munroe Anders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jemmett Devere having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Brendan Butterworth's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jemmett Devere was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Brendan Butterworth might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jemmett Devere. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brendan Butterworth ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Huntingdon booed when Dunbogan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jemmett Devere made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Huntingdon's Jemmett Devere played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Munroe Anders in the 27th minute of play. Jemmett Devere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Munroe Anders, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After a rather tough play, Dunbogan's Todd Beverly got a free kick in the 29th minute. Stephan Fison, 30 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. With a little luck, Dunbogan's Earl Beverley got control of the ball when Edmundson Anders tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edmundson Anderss short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Earl Beverley to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Quade Nelson came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Huntingdon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quade Nelson couldn't finish the play. Brendan Butterworth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Huntingdon's Jemmett Devere played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Munroe Anders in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Dunbogan were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Peterson to make the kick off. After 54 minutes, Bruno Howarth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dunbogan and the Huntingdon players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 54th match minute, Dunbogan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Howarth to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Huntingdon's Edmundson Anders fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. Huntingdon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundson Anders was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Munroe Anders's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jemmett Devere was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. If Brendan Butterworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brendan Butterworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
