Ryan Goodward lost his temper 5 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Melbourne Glory fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 5th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Queens Park Wanderers a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jemmett Mcvicar, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Melbourne Glory's Otto Durbridge. 0-1. If Browne Andrusiow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otto Durbridge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duffield Argoud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Kirby Feutrill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melbourne Glory's supporters rose to their feet, but Kirby Feutrill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrizio Caddick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute, Ace Perrett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 minutes, Brice Arkinstall mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melbourne Glory and the Queens Park Wanderers players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Melbourne Glory's Brice Arkinstall got a free kick in the 31st minute. After having played for 37 minutes, Kirby Feutrill managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne Glory's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kirby Feutrill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edwin Mewburn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Fabrizio Caddick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Edwin Mewburn made the kick off in the second half. Rodd Awege blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Otto Durbridge having to make a save. Fabrizio Caddick stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edwin Mewburn's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. If Duffield Argoud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edwin Mewburn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrizio Caddick having to interfere. Fabrizio Caddick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edwin Mewburn in the 70th minute of play. After having played for 71 minutes, Brice Arkinstall managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne Glory's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brice Arkinstall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute, Queens Park Wanderers's Duffield Argoud ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Otto Durbridge. Otto Durbridge yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Melbourne Glory players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
