An unexpectedly hard shot by Barth Mckay in the 3rd minute of play forced Melbourne Glory's goalkeeper Otto Durbridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 4th minute, Sam Parryman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Missabotti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Dean Caddick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Notley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kirby Feutrill during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th match minute, Melbourne Glory was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kirby Feutrill to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Missabotti's Barth Mckay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Otto Durbridge narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 17 minutes into the game, Larry Baptiste was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Missabotti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Melbourne Glory the free kick. In the 17th match minute, Missabotti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larry Baptiste to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Edwin Mewburn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melbourne Glory's supporters rose to their feet, but Edwin Mewburn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dean Caddick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Barth Mckay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Otto Durbridge read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Missabotti's zone, John Notley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dean Caddick came out of the goal and John Notley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dean Caddick didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from John Notley went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Edwin Mewburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by John Notley got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 38th match minute, Missabotti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornelius Morey to maneuver through the defense. If Larry Baptiste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, Melbourne Glory was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benson Quinn to maneuver through the defense. Otto Durbridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Parryman in the 43rd minute of play. When Barth Mckay came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Missabotti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barth Mckay couldn't finish the play. Sam Parryman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Durbridge having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Barth Mckay to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Notley in the 52nd minute of play forced Missabotti's goalkeeper Dean Caddick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rdth minute of the game John Notley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Missabotti's Dean Caddick was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 55 played minutes Melbourne Glory got a freekick which was hit by Navarro Monck. 56 minutes into the match, Missabotti's Burns Wege broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Dean Caddick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edwin Mewburn in the 57th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barth Mckay in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Otto Durbridge prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 64 minutes, Brice Arkinstall mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melbourne Glory and the Missabotti players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Melbourne Glory getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Brice Arkinstall hit a great ball. In the 67th minute Edwin Mewburn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Caddick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Otto Durbridge stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Barth Mckay's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Edwin Mewburn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Dean Caddick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dean Caddick didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edwin Mewburn went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Melbourne Glory's John Notley got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 92nd of the match, Barth Mckay tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Otto Durbridge got in the way and made a wonderful save. Brice Arkinstall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Dean Caddick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Melbourne Glory had won after a very even match.
