Arty Isaac could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Damon Waller made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Milparinka's Brant Quinnell got a free kick in the 16th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Jason Isaac managed to get in a good position for a shot. Winners's supporters rose to their feet, but Jason Isaac was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damon Waller breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ivan Gannan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edison Rutledge read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Edison Rutledge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Gannan, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. With an all-out effort, Winners's Damon Waller threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jason Isaac, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 31st play minute Arty Isaac came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Damon Waller. 1-1. Corder Kaine's late challenge caught a Milparinka's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Corder Kaine helped the player get up and apologised. Corder Kaine kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Milparinka's Damon Waller played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorimer Cochrane in the 37th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gregory Kinsey got free with Damon Waller in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Winners's zone, Ivan Gannan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edison Rutledge came out of the goal and Ivan Gannan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kent Kreck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th match minute, Winners was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arty Isaac to maneuver through the defense. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ivan Gannan struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Edison Rutledge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Milparinka. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ivan Gannan got free with Edison Rutledge in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Milparinka defense, Gregory Kinsey kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Damon Waller. The Milparinka fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Damon Waller should have stopped the shot. Ivan Gannan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute Burns Porteus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edison Rutledge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 76th minute, Lorimer Cochrane got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Milparinka getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Clay Laycock hit a great ball. When Arty Isaac fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Winners's protests and gave Arty Isaac a yellow card for diving instead. Damon Waller showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arty Isaac in the 82nd minute of the match. After having played for 84 minutes, Burns Porteus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milparinka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Burns Porteus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivan Gannan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edison Rutledge having to interfere. In the 87th minute Darren Brotherton suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. If Ivan Gannan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute.
